Snowstorm 2026

We got around a foot of snow on Sunday, Jan. 25 followed by more snow and freezing temperatures. The city shut down. School was remote for the week. Most people couldn't get anywhere because their cars were snowed in (if you park on the street like we do in Dormont).

This was the best week of the year. (I know it's only January, but it's going to be hard to beat over these next 11 months.) Check out all the fun we had.

XC Skiing

School was cancelled on Friday, but the kids' daycare was open, so after 20 years of wanting to cross country ski, I finally got to do it. I went to Laurel Ridge Cross Country Ski Center in the Laurel Highlands. It was really nice. It cost me only $35--$20 for the rental skis plus $15 for the trail pass. The trails were groomed and marked.
