The Smiling Goat

Andy was living in Nashville making ends meet by piecing together different part-time jobs. One of his gigs was playing drums for Carlton Anderson, his friend, roommate, and guitarist/singer who ended up making a decent name for himself in the country music scene. You can find him on Spotify, Apple Music, or whatever music streaming service you use. Anyway, they were going up to Zanesville, OH to play this gig at the Smiling Goat on a Saturday night in June 2015, so of course being only 3.5 hours away in Pittsburgh, we had to make the drive out to see them.

They were great. The crowd absolutely loved them. I was a bit surprised because I thought that Carlton at the time was relatively unknown, but a couple hundred people were there to see him specifically. People were dancing and singing along to some of the songs. It was really cool to see. For us, though, the best part was getting to see the star dummer. Thankfully, he was willing to take a picture with us.

The Smiling Goat has since closed permanently... RIP. At least I have this memory there.
