Julian Goes to Pittsburgh Taco Fest
My dad and I went to Taco Fest 2022 tonight outside the new Strip District Terminal.

Before we went any further, I needed a canned sangria to take the edge off as I walked around.

Then, we started to eat. First, I tried a Tijuana style chicken taco from El Sabor (Bloomfield, Pgh). Tijuana style = soft corn tortilla, lime, cilantro, cabbage, and quest fresco.

Next, we stopped at Pupusas and Antojitos Helen (location coming soon to Pgh). You can read the owner’s story here: https://presentepgh.com/new-salvadoran-food-business-seeks-funding-support-on-kiva-platform/
Hispanic food is about way more than just tacos. I got a bean and cheese pupusa patty. I was so hungry that I forgot to put the curtido (cabbage) and salsa on top.

Then, we took a break and watched Gavas Beat, Pittsburgh’s favorite Latin band. Their lead singer Juancho is my dad’s friend.

Not too much later we continued our hunt for food. I had room in me for one more snack, so I got a chori-pollo (chorizo and chicken) taco from Los Gallitos, a Pittsburgh food truck.

On the way out, I needed something to wash my food down with, so I got flor de Jamaica juice from Antojitos Hondureños.
