Julian teaches me an important lesson at Triple B Farms

The trip was an instant success the minute we stumbled upon Paw Patrol and Cat in a Hat.

Julian bounced.
We greeted the animals.

And then it was time to pick a pumpkin.
Julian wanted a green pumpkin. I didn’t understand. I thought that we were supposed to pick an orange pumpkin. I told him that he could pick any pumpkin to take home.
Julian explained to Ezra that he wanted a green one.

Julian briefly considered a bumpy yellow pumpkin. I told Jeff that this pumpkin made me uncomfortable. Jeff told me that if it were up to him, he would always pick one of the bumpy pumpkins.
I reminded Julian that he could pick any pumpkin in the patch. He eventually moved on because he couldn’t lift this one.

Julian became tired that his dad didn’t understand him. He sat down to pose for some photos.

We wandered through a corn maze. When Julian got hungry, he tried to eat some corn.

Despite all my suggestions that day, Julian knew what kind of pumpkin he wanted: A green gourd. He picked up and brought me 7-8 green gourds and each time I reminded him that he could pick any pumpkin he wanted. He did not relent.
And then I realized—Orange pumpkins are for sell-outs. Green gourds are punk rock. How could I not have seen this?
I am grateful to my son for teaching me an important life lesson. Thank you, J-Man.
